3D print custom low – friction inserts
to fit your own racing seat

QS-BT1 relies strongly on low-friction setup to generate strong and detailed feedback effects. QS-BT1 is strong and will tension the belt adequately, but it cannot pull in the opposite direction – increasing friction will reduce feedback when, for example, you are releasing the brakes.

To achieve the minimum possible friction of the racing harness on the seat belt slots, with the QS-BT1 we include low friction inserts. However, it is impossible for us to manufacture a solution that will fit every cockpit, every seat, every harness and also every body type.

We rely on our users’ common sense and ingenuity to optimize their setup and extract maximum performance and feedback from the QS-BT1. According to many users, included low friction inserts work really good IF your seat can accommodate them.

That’s why we want to share with you 3D printing files that include accurate, parametric CAD models of the low friction inserts. You are welcome to modify and print the custom inserts to fit you own racing seat.

Keep in mind:

  • Standard low friction inserts are manufactured from ABS material, but for DIY home use it is recommended to use PLA,
  • Place the model so that the layers are parallel to the direction of the sliding belts (refer to illustration),
  • When modelling a custom insert – please refer to the user manual (https://qubicsystem.b-cdn.net/files/um/QS-BT1.pdf) for the ideal positioning of the harness for maximum immersion. Also take into consideration thickness of the velcro strips used to hold the inserts in place,
  • To serve its purpose, the sliding surface must be as smooth as possible.
  • Post-print treatment, like sanding/polishing may be needed,
Low-friction inserts were designed to be interchangeable but your setup may require a different approach.
