OPTIMIZING BELT RELEASE
AND CALIBRATION OF QS-BT1
Seat Belt Tensioner QS-BT1 enhances realism and immersion during your simulation experience. If your belts are not releasing properly or the release feels weak, there are simple steps you can follow to ensure optimal performance. Here’s step-by-step guide to identifying and resolving potential challenges, transforming them into opportunities for even better results!
Step 1: Verify Input Behavior
Sometimes, the belt release behavior may be influenced by a constant flow of inputs from the game. This can cause the belts to remain tensioned without releasing. Here’s how to check if that’s the case:
- Open QubicManager and navigate to “Tools and Diagnostics”, then select “Seat Belt Tensioner Diagnostic”
- Open and enlarge the “Seat Belt Tension [%]” graph for better visibility.
- Right-click on the graph and select “Stay on top” to keep it visible during gameplay.
- Observe the graph during a normal game session to check if the tension lines ever drop to 0. If they do, it indicates the system works correctly and there may be too much friction on the belt causing it to not release.
This process will help ensure the system is functioning optimally and identify if adjustments are necessary.

Step 2: Adjust Game Effects for a Smoother Release
If the lines on the graph remain consistently above 0, the game’s input signals may need to be fine-tuned to prevent continuous tension. To address this:
- Disable the “Engine Vibration” effect in the QubicManager settings.
- Turn off the “Bounds” effect, as it causes the belt to stay under tension all the time.
These adjustments reduce excessive signals, allowing the belt to relax naturally when no tension is needed.

Step 3: Ensure Smooth Belt Operation
If the graph shows that the tension percentage drops to 0, but the belts still don’t release properly, the issue could be related to friction in the harness or built-in belts. Since the release mechanism is not motor-driven, reducing friction is essential. Here’s how to achieve that:
- Check Installation: Ensure the QS-BT1 is mounted according to the manual (refer to Section 1, Page 35). Proper mounting minimizes unnecessary resistance.
- Install Low-Friction Inserts: These inserts help the belts glide smoothly and ensure they release as intended.
- Consider Aftermarket Solutions: For optimal performance, you might explore aftermarket roller setups, as detailed in Section 5.6.3, Page 37 of the manual.
