Anthony’s story
Started 10 years ago when I bought Dirt Rally on Steam. I had always been a big fan of driving/racing games, on consoles mainly. Played a lot of Gran Turismo, had Sega Rally for Dreamcast, lots of Dirt 3 when I moved to PC in 2011. Had absolutely no idea that sim racing even existed, but I knew after a couple of drives in Dirt Rally that I could not do it justice with a control pad.
Ended up buying a used G25 and bolted it to the desk and was amazed how it worked with the FFB. From there, it’s been a constant stream of upgrades, from a dedicated cockpit, multiple display options, hardware upgrades and even a dedicated room built specifically to remove it all from the main house.
Any advice for other sim racers?
- Ensure your seat is suitable for the harness position/shape of harness ports
- Ensure your USB connectivity is sound!
- Be sure to test all the effects and change the default settings based to your own tastes
- Prepare to enjoy!
FUTURE PLANS
No further improvements to the rig at this stage, it’s almost end game for the time being. Looking forward to trying the new sim games that are not far away from release. Keep finding time to race and stay active in online races
Why Qubic System?
Was formerly part of a sim racing enthusiast Discord server, where a number of members purchased the QS-BT1. Some were previous users (like myself) of the SimXperience Gbelt harness tensioner. I heard enough good things from those people comparing the BT1 to the older Gbelt and decided to take the plunge.
The software is much superior. It offers more effects, auto profile loading, profile sharing, control through a stream deck, all the things I wish that SimCommander offered. The software was a nice quality of life upgrade as well as being more powerful when combined with what the unit offers. The unit itself was a massive upgrade. More power, less noise, build quality appears about equal.
The community aspect with access to the Qubic discord server as well as frequent activity from company representatives is also a welcome change. Overall the package impressed me greatly as someone who already owned a harness tensioner. It still does to this day. It’s a great addition to my experience.
