Johnno’s story

Describe Your Adventure with Simracing
So I started sim racing with the original Gran Turismo back in 1998 I think it was, on the OG PlayStation. I absolutely loved that game & bought every version right up to the current Gran Turismo 7. It was this version that got me into the online side of the sim. I started racing using just the controller. I had not done any type of proper sim racing previously.

So mid 2025 I decided to get my first wheel & pedal combo, investing in the Thrustmaster eco system (TS300 base & the TLCM load cell pedals), attached to a Playseat Instinct F1 rig. I loved the online experience so much I decided to go down the PC path & get a little more serious & invested in a quality PC & upgraded to a VRS DFP15 base & wheel. This is when I really went down the rabbit hole, investing in a full aluminium rig & upgrading everything to the best I could afford.

So here I am now & loving every minute of sitting in my rig.

Any advice for other sim racers?

Do your research. These motion systems, regardless of brand are a hefty financial investment.
If you do decide to enter this level of immersion, be prepared for an absolutely mind blowing experience. I cannot recommend it enough.

FUTURE PLANS

I’m definitely considering some coaching to try & improve my driving. Regarding my rig, I may at some point add a sequential shifter & hand brake, but those are not high on the to do list.

Why Qubic System?

Once I had the basics of my rig (frame, wheel base , steering wheels), I started looking into motion. I did quite a lot of research, watching all of the most well known reviewers & narrowing my picks to either Qubic Systems, Sigma Integrale or D-Box. I ended up choosing Qubic Systems as it just appeared to have that extra quality compared to the others. I had also heard the support was top notch.

And I have to say I do not regret my decision. The installation & set up was exceptionally easy, even for me doing it by myself. The software is very easy to navigate & to set up my preferences. When I fired it up & had my first drive, I was absolutely blown away with how good it was, next level experience. The detail you can feel in weight transfer, wheel slip, road texture etc. is so so good. Driving now without it just feels flat & kind of boring.
