Motion system with VR compensation

Making virtual reality experience enhanced by motion platform’s movements more real than ever. Using VR headsets with the newest and the most advanced racing games may bring you many unforgettable moments. Although tracks, trees, lights or road texture seems to be natural and realistic, that remains one more detail. Either available VR system on the market is capable to compensate and eliminate movements that come from the motion platform. It may be not obvious for dynamic games where scenery changes every frame, but the issue is real!

Motion rig, cockpit generates feeling of the forces (feedback forces) that act on your body by doing some moves. Those moves are being recognized by VR systems as head movements, which is obviously wrong, but we thought ahead.

Without VR HeadWay

Taking a turn while driving the car generates force that push your body outside of the seat. To simulate this behavior motion platform has to lean top frame. This changes position of the entire cockpit with you inside. The system recognizes this as your head movements and processes them in the normal way. Without compensation it looks like your head is going to hit the side window. Finally you could find your head outside the window which might be quite unpleasing.

Let’s see what motion compensation gives us on the example of a driver using a VR headset with motion cockpit.

VR HeadWay

Enable motion compensation

Our software Qubic Manager uses advanced mathematic formulas to calculate necessary motion compensation and applies data to the headset at runtime. It eliminates platform movements from the VR tracking system causing your experiences to be more immersive and authentic.

VR HeadWay is transparent for end users, it can be used with almost all our platforms and level of correction can be adjusted to user individual preferences with a few simple sliders, click and play. The configuration settings are very smooth. The only data required by the compensation module is the user’s head position relative to top frame rotation center. Just make a simply measurements and provide this necessary configuration parameter.

Create Value Experience

On the end of the day, you can enjoy the value racing experience. Our VR HeadWay motion compensation technology was develop to stay aware of your surroundings which makes your gameplay or training more immersive and authentic.
