I started sim racing in September of 2023. I had bought a gaming PC during the pandemic, where I began with flight simulation—just using a joystick. I quickly lost interest, and then I started thinking about buying a track car to participate in local autocross events. During my search, I met some fellow racers who shared the costs involved in running even entry-level track days. They suggested, “You should just buy a sim and race every day—it’s just as much fun.” So, I started exploring that option. I already had a PC, so I purchased a VR headset and a Thrustmaster wheel, just to see if I’d enjoy it.

At first, I tried oval racing—liked it somewhat. Then I tried open-wheel racing, and I liked it even more. Eventually, I began road racing on iRacing, and that’s when I really got hooked. I joined an endurance team and competed in the Daytona 24 in January 2024, my first official event, and a long one at that! It was also my first time driving a GT3. Endurance racing captivated me even further, especially when I ended up driving 4.5 hours straight due to a teammate not showing up. I absolutely enjoyed it—until my battery died. After that, I thought, “Hmm, maybe I should try a monitor.”

I upgraded to a single 32” monitor, loving the improved resolution and graphics. I even drove three hours to try out a sim rig at a sim arcade. From that moment on, I was convinced: I needed triple monitors. I haven’t looked back since. Every time I had extra money, I invested it to keep building and enhancing my setup. My goal was to feel the immersion of being in a real car.

From February until today, the journey has been incredibly fun, adding layers of immersion. Today was probably the best day yet—I added the BT1, the largest single purchase I’ve made for this setup. It has brought the most significant immersion and the biggest smile to my face in this entire hobby.

I saw a review on YouTube by someone who rarely shows emotion. When I saw the smile on this YouTuber’s face, I knew it had to be something special, so I decided to purchase it.

In 2025, I plan to add motion to my setup to complete the experience. For now, I’m focused on enjoying more fun races and fully embracing the immersion!
