Velocity is opening the doors to its sim racing lounge in North Dallas, and this one’s going to be the flagship. The new spot at 9830 N. Central Expressway in The Hill shopping center goes live on Saturday, the 25th of July, doubling the size of the original spot in Houston, and it’s billed as the largest sim racing center in all of Texas. And it comes after a strong first year down in Houston, where over 28,000 drivers came through to give it a go.

Spanning a massive 10,000-plus square feet, the lounge combines racing action with a full kitchen and bar. It’s the kind of “eatertainment” setup where you can give racing a try, then head on in for a bite or a drink. Expect an open-wheel car dangling from the ceiling, a few bikes on display, and track-inspired lighting, along with a central bar and a humongous video wall for live races and watch parties.

Velocity’s line-up of 34 motion racing simulators each come equipped with 180-degree wraparound screens, and they range from a “Racer” perfect for beginners all the way up to the top-end “Ultimate”, the only one of its kind in Texas – a premium, full-throttle experience that’s sure to get your adrenalin going. These rigs run on Qubic System motion hardware – a 3DOF QS-220, a 4DOF QS-V20, or the top-of-the-range 6DOF QS-S35. These Made-in-EU platforms are the real stars of the show, the ones that make each lap feel like you’re really there.

Dallas is also the first to get what Velocity calls the world’s first kid-friendly motion simulator. Drivers can get behind the wheel of something like the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport or McLaren 570S GT4 on some of the most famous circuits – Monza, Silverstone, and the Texas-based Circuit of the Americas – with a Dallas-specific track in the works, so you can race the city itself.

Velocity’s founder Viet Tran built the sim lounge around building a community, as much as about the competition: the simulators bring people in, and the good food, drinks and general atmosphere keep them coming back. He’s already planning on running live intercity races between the Dallas and Houston sim lounges, with all the racing action screened out on the venues’ video walls.

Before the big day, Velocity is running some soft opening sessions on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, from 4 to 10 pm. And then it’s the grand opening on Saturday, the 25th of July, with the day kicking off at 10 am – a car meet, a live DJ, and Dallas’s first-ever sim racing tournament (entry’s from $25, upgrades available). The first 1,000 people through the door get a free branded keychain, with raffles all weekend. Things get back to normal at 2:30 pm Saturday, and the regular hours go like this – noon to 11 pm Monday-Thursday, noon to midnight Friday, 11 am to midnight Saturday, and 11 am to 10 pm on Sunday.
